The demeanor of Mr. Hagedorn and the learning environment he encouraged in this course was awesome. Mr. Hagedorn provided examples of media tools he uses in his own classroom. As well as the class sharing their experiences using the technology. It was great being able to learn from my peers. It was a wonderful experience to be able to bounce ideas off of one another and gain a different perspective on the incorporation of technology into the curriculum.
An activity that stood out during this course was from module 2, brainstorming possible PBL activities. This was difficult because it is always perplexing to come up with a task the students can complete and meet the time constraints of unit expectations within the curriculum. It was not as stressful as I thought it would be. Mostly because of being able to work in a small group and brainstorm how to connect projects with the curriculum. Another aspect that stands out is writing a grant. This was more difficult than I anticipated. What I found to be challenging was with finding a specific grant in order to put in for what I wanted for the students I work with. I cannot tell you how much of my own income I have used to purchase supplies and needed tools for my students', and I am not alone because all teachers do this. It was eyeopening to the resources out there. Even though there are a lot of specific instructions to follow; I hope to write more grants in getting items to help students become more academically successful.
I feel I continue to grow as a connected educator because I am continuing to share the tools I am learning about with the students I am teaching. I am feeling less afraid to try new tools. The best part is being able to see how my students are able to use the tools to enhance their learning experience.
The students do not have “smart notebook” on their chromes; therefore, I am using google slides and making it interactive with sorting pictures and text boxes within guided reading lessons. I am learning new features as I progress which makes each lesson more beneficial for the groups of students I work with.
I continue to look forward to learning more about technology through this cohort; as well as working with the many amazing colleagues I have every day. I am eager to apply the elements I am learning in order to differentiate and adapt lessons to my students learning styles in order to facilitate my students into becoming self-confident, productive learners.

ReplyDeleteI cannot agree more with you about how pleasant was to be in Mr. Hagerdon’s class. His enthusiasm toward using digital tools in the classroom inspired me to explore and try new tech tools to help students learn. I also like the way he facilitated the understanding of the tech tools and their applications in the classroom setting by sharing how he integrates technology into units of study to enhance lessons. His guide, for the completion of the assignments, made me enjoy and learn about the effective technology integration into lessons and curriculum.

I would love to be a 4th grader in his class! I am a visual learner so I found his videos to be extremely helpful. I've enjoyed our discussions and can't wait to see you in our next class.
