A Professional Learning Network (PLN) is a network educators use to personalize their own created network in order to connect with fellow educators and develop resources that will enable them to enhance their knowledge and skills. PLN's enable educators to collaborate with other educators no matter the time of day or country of residence. Previously, educators would find resources through journal articles, attending conferences, and professional development opportunities. Nowadays, educators participate in social media (such as Twitter and create Blogs) to stay up to date with current and developing technology resources and tools. These resources and tools are used in and outside of the classroom to enhance collaborative learning environments for the teachers and their students.
PLN's I actively participate in are:
- Blog is a Personalized Learning Network that is also a web-folio to reflect on what have learned and continue to learn while in pursuit of an endorsement in Educational Technology to become an enriched teacher in order to enhance the education my students receive.
- Twitter - to post what I am using and seek answers to questions to develop lessons and activities; as well as to follow organizations, such as Edutopia, eSchoolnews, and Makerspaces, in order to stay current with tech in the classroom. My handle is @nichamertyme
- Pinterest - to follow pins in order to gain ideas for lessons and teaching with technology.
