Below is a narrative describing my experience using Lino, a digital tool, I learned about in an educational technology cohort I am participating in to gain an endorsement in Educational Technology.
Lino is a tool that was presented within Module 3 of Foundations of Educational Technology. It looked really cool and I wanted to explore it. Lino resembles a digital bulletin board. In it you are able to pin pictures and post-its onto the board. Lino reminds me of a picture board to describe a person; with this in mind, I think it would prove useful as an introductory tool when presenting a new concept, similar to a concept map (what do all of these pictures and information have in common). It would also fit nicely as a tool groups would use to collaboratively brainstorm ideas for writing. This is why I created a Lino - for an expository “how to.” I linked my personal experiences and recipe to making jam. I would use this as an example to show my students how to use lino and how to write a “how to” essay.
I liked that it was easy to put a post it and pictures on the board. The images are easily movable on the board using a mouse. What I found to be difficult was the ability to rotate and either shrink or enlarge images. The options for font were very simple, small, medium, or large. However, I was unable to change the type of font used. Another challenge was trying to get a shareable link to the lino canvas; it is not as easy as sharing a document or obtaining a shareable link as it is with Google Docs. I like this site and think it would be great with brainstorming a shared writing similar to that of mondo. Overall, I really enjoyed using Lino and I look forward to sharing it with my students.

This is my favorite tool to use out of what we have been introduced to in class. Using it for recipes is such a great idea (and that is a HUGE blueberry!). I like that it's similar to Pinterest but I don't feel like you go down as many mazes as I do when I am on Pinterest. I agree taht it was frustrating not being able to change the font but I also find a drawback is that students are able to delete others' responses on the post-its. I am not sure if there is a way to lock them so other students do not have a little too much fun deleting their friends' work.
