In module one, we had the opportunity to design a classroom encompassing 21st century technology. There is so much out there to help students learn that is technology inspired. Technology that we are familiar with are Chromebooks, Promethean boards, three dimensional and color printers are seen in many classrooms. However, seating that involves movement is not. This involves moving desks, stools, whiteboard tables, and standing desks. Something this simple changes the environment from traditional to inspiring. Having a space available for students be able to build, manipulate, and create is also important. Maker spaces is important for students to be able to pursue interests that may not be directly in the curriculum they are learning. Students are not one size fits all. What I mean is that every student learns differently and providing them the space and modalities to do so is just as important as what we are teaching.
Creating an ideal classroom was a lot of fun especially since money was no object. The truth is that the furniture to encourage learning is very expensive and this is the aspect I did not like.
